Blendo Games Newsletter, March 20, 2012 ------------------------------------------- 1) Thirty Flights of Loving 2) Game Developers Conference 3) Independent Games Festival 4) How to contact Blendo Games ------------------------------------------- 1. Thirty Flights of Loving Some time ago, I made a game called Gravity Bone. Well, Gravity Bone now has a sequel: Thirty Flights of Loving. Learn more here: http://idlethumbs.net/kickstarter Here's the Thirty Flights of Loving teaser video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3BROWU1yBY&hd=1 To get early access to Thirty Flights of Loving, support the Idle Thumbs Kickstarter campaign: http://idlethumbs.net/kickstarter (their Kickstarter campaign ends less than 24 hours from now, so check it out sooner than later!) Idle Thumbs are about video games, gaming culture, and all that entails. I'm a big fan of their work, and I'm particularly fond of their gaming podcast. Do give them a listen: http://www.idlethumbs.net For those who have no idea what Gravity Bone is, you can download and play it for free. Download here: http://blendogames.com/older.htm#gravitybone ------------------------------------------- 2. Game Developers Conference Earlier this month, I went up to San Francisco for the Game Developers Conference. While at GDC, I gave a talk: "Nuke It From Orbit: The Making of Atom Zombie Smasher". As you can probably guess from the title, the talk was about the development process of Atom Zombie Smasher - how it started, what went right & wrong, and some post-launch data. During the talk, I showed some footage from early prototypes of the game. I'll upload more later, but for now, here's a video from the very first version of Atom Zombie Smasher: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTJlDmm9AvM ------------------------------------------- 3. Independent Games Festival I was also at the Game Developers Conference for another reason: Atom Zombie Smasher received an Excellence in Design nomination from the Independent Games Festival! All the nominees are listed here: http://www.igf.com/02finalists.html If you're interested in independent game development, I highly recommend visiting GDC and the IGF area at the expo floor. Play the games, chat with the developers, and take a peek into how the games work and how they're made. ------------------------------------------- 4.
